Topic Proposal - Renewable Resources and Electric Vehicles

There is a huge crisis going on in our current world dealing with the ways we use energy and how we produce them. According to BP's Statistical Review of World Energy, there are only 55 years until we run out of fossil fuel and less than 200 years until coal is gone. We are in desperate need to find an alternative way to harvest energy that is sustainable and friendly to our environment. The journey to achieve this goal will be hard and we need the most from every person. Therefore it is important to get an idea of what people are thinking about as an alternative to fossil fuel and coal. This way, it'll be easier to know which sector of energy to best invest in. Furthermore, a good reason why gasoline still plays a big role in the lives of everyday people is due to the internal combustion engine. According to multiple sources, transportation is currently responsible for almost 1/3 of all greenhouse gas outputs. Shifting to the electric vehicles is a good way to cut the addiction of fossil fuel in our society. 

I want to gather the opinions from people of different age groups and analyze the differences.

- How long do you think we have until we run out of fossil fuel?

- What do you think is the best source of renewable energy, and why?

- Will you purchase and drive an electric vehicle?

- How do you think the situation will improve if everyone moves away from gasoline vehicles?

I am planning to reach out to people through interviews in person and on social media. I will gather demographic information, such as age for the explanatory variable and a way to categorize my responses. One of the possible ways to show my results is through making a pie or histogram chart.

Introduction Automobiles have been a significant part of human history for centuries. They make a lot of our daily jobs more simple and achievable, such as transportation. However, the impact of internal combustion engines in cars have been causing pollution and releasing chemicals that are permanently changing our environment. It is undeniable that society is addicted to fossil fuel and the only way to change it and keep the perks of technology is to switch to electric power. There are ways to generate electricity through nature, such as capturing energy from the sun, using windmill, and so on. The key is to figure out which renewable resource is most favored by people, so it’ll be easier to build the infrastructure with everyone’s support.
